Stellest ® Lenses

It is recommended that your child wears the lenses full-time for a minimum of 10 hours per day for at least 6 days per week. Although, the myopia treatment will work best if worn full-time and everyday.

Our doctors will have your child return for several follow-up appointments within the year to check for myopia progression, in addition to making sure your child is adapting well to the lens.

It depends. For the Stellest® to be effective, the frame needs to be positioned on your child's face in a particular way in order for the H.A.L.T. technology to send a proper signal to the eye to slow eyeball elongation. This includes the child's eye being centered in the frame, the depth of the frame shouldn't be too short, and the frame shouldn't be too angled. Our opticians will be able to evaluate the frame to see if it qualifies, otherwise, your child can be refit into one of our frames to ensure it is the ideal fit for your child to receive the most effective treatment.

There is a short adaptation period where your child may notice the multiple rings of defocusing on the lenses, however your child should adapt to this quickly within the first week of full-time wear.

The duration at which your child will have this treatment depends on how progressive their myopia progression is. Most kids will show a stabilization of their myopia progression once they finish high school, although the treatment results will vary between each child.

To the naked eye, the Stellest® lenses look identical to traditional glasses. However, unlike regular glasses that only correct blurry vision, Stellest® lenses both correct blurry vision AND actively slow the progression of nearsightedness.

Studies have shown that the Stellest® lenses are equally effective in slowing down myopia versus other treatments (ortho-K, atropine eye drops, MiSight soft contact lenses, etc). Our doctors will help you determine which treatment will work best for your child’s lifestyle.
